Share
Traditionally red and therefore christmassy, we take a look at the different rubies in our store ready for your Christmas gift giving.
A ruby is a pinky red to deep dark blood red gemstone, made of the mineral corundum.
It's one of the most favoured gemstones for jewellery. Rather like a diamond a ruby is valued by its cut, colour, carat and clarity, with the blood red taking the lead in value.
Rubies are hard enough to stand daily wearing too. - just under a diamond's hardness on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
They are the birth stone for July, ideal gift for those with summer birthdays!
For centuries, rubies have signified passion, protection, and wealth. They were given as a sign of love and commitment in the Victorian times.
